This is Elian Gonzalez, a five year old Cuban child who was held at gunpoint and ripped away from his family in Miami, Florida. His mother gave her life to bring him here, crossing ninety miles over the Gulf of America on a makeshift raft. She was swallowed by the sea and died trying to give her son a chance at freedom. Elian was found by fishermen, surrounded by dolphins, a miracle child who had escaped communism. Then Bill Clinton and Janet Reno sent armed agents to violently storm his home and rip him away from his family because Fidel Castro demanded it. His own father, a man who had barely been in his life, suddenly appeared to claim him under orders from the dictator. Elian was sent back to the island prison his mother had died trying to flee. Elian would later call Fidel Castro his god, becoming a symbol of communist triumph over America, while Democrats in America cheered.
