Yesterday, I had the honor of speaking again at our International Overdose Awareness Day event here in Myrtle Beach. Last year, I focused on the deaths of my son, Patrick, and others including innocent people who fell victim. I was floored by this magnificent speech. It has been a long time since I’ve heard one of our church leaders speak out so strongly against the status quo. His intelligence, worldliness, and courage are to be applauded by people of all faiths. Overdose Awareness Last night I had the honor of speaking to the audience at an Overdose Awareness event in Myrtle Beach. As many of you know, we lost our son, Patrick, to an overdose last year. I felt God prodding me to tell his story to help save others. I spoke about Patrick and the great loss that we feel. I also spoke about other overdose victims, many who were the victims of other’s drug addiction. Families and friends feel the pain long after their addict has died. I also spoke about the miracle drug, Narcan, that is saving the lives of the near dead. I learned this morning that my grandnephew in California was clinically dead twice and saved by Narcan.
