The only scenario that makes sense to me (other than basic evil) is that the school shooter was supposed to be caught and arrested before the incident by whomever was grooming and supplying him. This would make a big news splash before NRA meeting and primaries. Perhaps the shooter moved faster than expected and just by chance the back door was available.
