In its original context, John 3:16 carries a much richer meaning, as it is dealing with "Chayei Olam," not the Latinized aeternum life. "...that whosoever believes in Him, shall not ‘be lost' but have 'a meaningful' life.' Yeshua's instruction wasn't just future, but present!

Speak to all the congregation of Bnei-Yisrael & tell them: You shall be holy, for I, Yehovah your God, am holy (Lev 19:2). Leviticus 19 is the 2nd most quoted chapter in the Bible, & for good reason. This is the chapter that teaches us what holiness looks like. It starts with the reason why we should live holy - because He is holy. Living our lives, within the boundaries He’s established, not only pleases God, but helps us understand the WHY behind each boundary. While keeping His commands, may we not see them as arbitrary instructions, but as revelations of His character & nature. #kedoshim
The pre-scheduled Rabbinic calendar that most of us use places #Pesach (Hebrew word for #Passover) on this past Friday night. The Biblical calendar, based on the sighting of the moon, determined Saturday night to begin Pesach (Gen 1:14; Deut 16:1). In either case, Pesach was celebrated this past weekend. But, what has given me pause is seeing the full moon. While the Temple stood, Israel was required to make a pilgrimage to Jerusalem for Pesach. And on the highlight of the night, we indeed had a high light, with a full moon giving light for all. It is a shining example, an elegant reminder, that God gives us what we need when we need it (2 Cor 12:9; Phil 4:19).
He called the people & His disciples, & said to them, “He who wants to follow after Me must deny himself, take up the cross, & follow Me. And whosoever wants to save his life, he will lose it. But he who loses it because of Me, & because of the good news, he will save it (Mark 8:34-35). As discussed, בָּזָה, translated as ‘deny’, misses the fuller meaning Hebrew provides, the ‘why’ behind it. Living self-centered lives produces loneliness, exhaustion, anxiety, depression, anger, bitterness, resentment, complaining… Upon coming into contact with the Light, we see our true condition is actually spoiled, rotten & of no value.
