Jews for Jesus Files Anti-SLAPP Defamation Motion in CA Court - Liberty Counsel

A high school valedictorian in North Carolina delivered a graduation speech with references to his Christian faith even after the district had attempted to censor his remarks about God and Jesus Christ.
Based on advice contained in a letter we sent, and with legal precedent on his side, the valedictorian respectfully appealed to keep the speech unchanged. From a portion of the speech originally censored by the school district, he said, “I want to thank my Lord Jesus Christ for getting me through because if it weren’t for Him, I don’t know how I would’ve gotten through life…Jesus Christ has always loved me.”
Congratulations to the class of 2025 and to God be the glory! 🎓
Liberty Counsel Founder and Chairman Mat Staver: “The valedictorian’s respectful approach to correcting the administrators’ constitutional errors resulted in an uncensored, faith-filled graduation speech. Voluntary references to God or Jesus Christ in a graduation speech are all protected by the First Amendment and may not be censored by school officials.”

Liberty University will now be able to appeal over a critical question of religious liberty in its case regarding its firing of an employee who didn't adhere to the Christian school's religious beliefs.
The Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals granted our petition to appeal the lawsuit, Zinski v. Liberty University, which consolidates the Title VII lawsuit with our motion to dismiss the case under the First Amendment, the ministerial exception, and the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA).
Liberty Counsel Founder and Chairman Mat Staver: “Liberty University is now able to appeal this critically important question of religious freedom which can result in controlling the outcome of the case. Zinski intentionally and deceptively set up Liberty University in an attempt to undermine its religious beliefs and mission. Title VII exempts Liberty University from having to employ individuals who violate its religious beliefs and doctrinal positions.”
