One of the core tenets of western civilization is the freedom of speech, specifically the ability to openly discuss and share ideas that may be inconvenient or unpopular among those in power without fear of retribution. If we allow this freedom to be squandered by elected officials or unelected oligarchs, we will lose not only one of our most essential liberties but western civilization altogether.
