Here’s his speech. “Slavery is a terrible thing that existed throughout human history. It was terrible when Africans did it to each other. When the Arabic world did it to Africans in their millions. When North Africans enslaved white people. When white people did it to Africans. “You have bever been slaves. I have never owned any slaves. So let’s move on. Let’s concentrate on freeing the modern day slaves in Africa, the Middle East, & elsewhere. By the way, Britain was the first major nation to abolish slavery (it was always unlawful under English Common Law) & the Royal Navy swept the slavers from the oceans.
