Quick back of the envelope math: ~ 5.9 million total commercial buildings in US (source: CEBCS). Fires per year in commercial is 3340 (source: NFPA) which is 0.056% of total. 36000 food processing plants in US with 97 in one year is 0.27% of total or 382% above commercial fire rate. So basically this would need to be refined with further research but as a PM when something smelled off this is what we would do…then investigate…this isn’t rocket science guys. Maybe the food processors have awful safety standards or it’s an insurance scam…but it isn’t a coincidence imho.
